Robert F. Dolo, Founder, Executive Director, Cataract Surgeon

Mr. Robert F. Dolo, a young Liberian non-physician Cataract Surgeon, started his professional journey as a nurse from the Ganta United Methodist School of Nursing. In 2004, he traveled to Ghana along with other Liberians for ophthalmic training and obtained an Advanced Diploma in Ophthalmic Nursing at the Korlu Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. He served as expatriate and established an eye health rural community outreach program on behalf of Unite for Sight and the Crystal Eye Clinic in Ghana which continues to operate. In 2009, Mr. Dolo landed in The Gambia at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital, the Regional Ophthalmic Training Program and undertook advanced surgical ophthalmic training that qualified him as a non-physician cataract surgeon.

He was always aware that the need for eye health services was greater in Liberia. In 2009 he decided to voluntarily relinquish his jobs to return to Liberia and provide these much needed services to his beloved homeland. He reached out to friends within Liberia and abroad to help in achieving this vision, and together they worked to make this great dream.

Mr. Robert Dolo is the Founder of NSEC and currently serves as Executive Director and non-physician cataract surgeon. Together with the following hardworking staff at New Sight Eye Center they are providing ongoing high quality eye health services for people living in Liberia. Through this work, NSEC is promoting eye health and significantly contributing to attaining the Millennium Development Goals.
